WE ARE THE FRIGGING MEDIA
Doc Searls has an inspiring post today. He caught a bit of former Clinton advisor Dick Morris responding to Howard Dean's missteps. Note that I changed Doc's quote to present tense, because this is happening NOW!
Dick Morris (paraphrased by Doc Searls)None of those things matter as much as the real story, which is that Dean's candidacy is made ... by networked constituents with which Dean relates. Dean is a "one to one" candidate, Morris said. He gets his power from the people. Not from The Media. And not from the party apparatus that's busy spinning "Doubts About Dean" (the Newsweek cover headline).
We really are living in a world where "networked citizens get smarter faster than the insititutions that that govern them." We'll decide who to elect, we'll decide what to think about them, thankyouverymuch. Each of us bloggers is part of the media. Hell, I can walk into Dean HQ and get a "press" pass. Who am I? I'm just a blogger, and a filmmaker yes, but they're both independent media. Me with a computer, me with a camera, I use them together and I am the frigging media. We are the frigging media.
The genie is out of the bottle.

You totally just inspired me to go out and buy a hat with a band around it so I can stick in the brim one of those cards that say "Press" on them . However, instead of it saying "Press" it is going to say "Blog-Tastic", or maybe "I blog, and I vote". Whadda ya think? The possibilites are endless.
Seriously, I feel all part of the revolution now. You are my light and inspiration, Chuck.

Oh Disciple Tim,
Dost Thou Feel the Light That Doth Emanate From Mine Robe?
Yea, It Is the Pure Light of Blog.
[fedora with a "Blog" tag, that's a brilliant idea!]
