NY TIMES REVIEW OF SONY R1

Sonyr1

David Pogue takes a close look at our sweet camera, the Sony R1, which still isn't available at stores in Minnesota. Overall a pretty favorable review. I'm going to tape a video review of it one of these days. David confirms what I've read elsewhere: The reason digital SLR cameras don't have a live preview is because their giant sensor chips would drain the battery. That's the #1 great innovation about this camera - a big SLR-quality sensor with a live LCD preview, thanks to Sony's low-power chip design. Oh yeah, and great pictures. We still need to learn how to use the manual settings for better low-light photos, though.
