Am I live??

No, but I totally was. For like 3 minutes.

Nope! But I was live, from the Nokia N93
thanks to Steve Garfield for cluing me in to ComVu.

I kept trying to go live with Ustream but it wouldn't work.
So I signed up with ComVu and installed the Symbian application.
After 2 hours of mucking around with my Nokia wifi and then Ustream and finally ComVu, it was terribly exciting to go live.

What a HUGE user-hostile pain in the ass though!

The first big hurdle was getting the N93 to talk to my Airport Express. I eventually found a forum where someone said I had to remove the ifi security, and/or change some setting from ASCII to Hex.

After that it wasn't too bad, but the ComVu site is not very smart or helpful at all. Both Nokia and ComVu need to do some serious user testing.

Now that I'm configured I might do some live videocasting from downtown Minneapolis. Using my Macbook was WAY WAY easier in most respects - it simply works - but of course it's a terribly clunky device. However it's nice to have the chat option and interact with people.

Hmm. Well we're obviously in the early stages of figuring this stuff out. It can only get better and easier.

Congratulations Chuck! Lots of new options every day for going live... We'll have to try a two-way cell phone broadcast.
