If TV HAD done its job, how would the media landscape look, now? Would people have been looking for -- and creating -- other outlets?

I'm not so good at what-if games... but I'm pretty sure the internet would've sparked a media revolution anyway because the structure is a paradigm shift compared to broadcast.
