Chicken hawk in my backyard
No, Dick Cheney wasn't hiding in the bushes peeking in my windows, it was a real chicken hawk, and I watched one of these hunt sparrows in my backyard on Friday. I was awestruck.
It's real name is the Sharp Shinned Hawk or Accipiter striatus, but another name used is Chicken Hawk.
I think it's funny I had a chicken hawk in my backyard. It was a whole lot more majestic than the ones in Washington, I can assure you.

I'm pretty sure thats a Cooper's Hawk. Here's an image of one:

As far as I know, Chicken Hawk's are black, and have pretty ugly heads.

Hmmm, well you may be right, I'm no expert on hawks, but at the time when I did my research I came up with the Chicken Hawk, and I saw no pix of black ones. The pic you reference does look a lot like the same bird, but slightly different. I'll have to look into it further.
