John Kerry Metrodome Rally

I just got back from the Kerry rally at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. Wow. It was amazing. It was cold, gray, and looked like rain (and you couldn't bring an umbrella out there) and there were THOUSANDS of people there (now estimated at 30,000). We waited in line for a LONG time and snaked around and around before going through the gate. (No loyalty oath here folks.)

When we got in we were jammed in and at the back, but there were still hundreds that were behind us. I couldn't believe it.

Mondale and Max Cleland introduced Kerry with a few words, but mostly it was Kerry's night. He had the crowd screaming and chanting and cheering (and laughing). It felt so good to be there with all of those thousands around you all wanting to see America set on the right path again.

At one point Kerry said: "I wish you could all see how beautiful you all look from here. You've come here with all your hopes and dreams for the future of this country.." That got me choked up, because you knew it was true, and that's why he was there too.

I'm voting for John Kerry in 12 days, and I'm going to do everything I can to get many many others to do the same. How about you?

It was a really powerful experience with that many people. We were up in the "blue ticket" perimeter, the third ring out, I think. Got to enjoy the long wait for a Secret Service security check.

There were two women walking around with Bush-Cheney t-shirts. They were emotionless and straight-faced. A third woman was following them with a video camera. Presumably they hoped to provoke someone, and get footage of wild-eyed lefties screaming at them. Two people were following them with Kerry signs, specifically to watchdog that they didn't get what they were seeking.

I overlooked the festivities from my deck at Centre Village. Could hear the cheers. :) Better believe I'm lining up on the 2nd to help cancel out those damn bush-supporters.

I was there too and found myself getting choked up and tearing when Kerry came on-stage. It was amazing! He's going to be in Rochester, MN on Wednesday so if anyone wants tickets, please email me. I can hook you up. :)
