NADER SINGS!

nader_neighborhood.jpg

This is the best thing ever. If you want to laugh at Ralph Nader, don't put him on talk radio - put him on Sesame Street and make him sing! Bob finds Ralph inspecting the wheels on a wagon. He's even stiffer when he's trying to act: "I'm making sure the wheels on this wagon. Were put on right! We wouldn't want any one. To get hurt." After Ralph rips Bob's poorly-knitted sweater apart, they start singing "A consumer advocate's a person in your neighborhood, in your neighborhood..." Circa 1994.

Nader also hosted Saturday Night Live once around 1976. I just remember a sketch where he takes a nap at his desk but has to strap himself in with a seatbelt, then dreams of a Carter-led Confederate takeover. I think he also pretends to lose his temper during the opening monologue.

Other highlights: Andy Kaufman performs two Elvis songs. And George Benson sings "Masquerade". Pretty good episode.

So, Dean's big advice to Nader was: "Lighten up!" Howard should be so
light on his feet.
