Some people who blog about video stuff are sharing 5 things about themselves. Steve Garfield and Steve Woolf tagged me, so here goes.
1. I have a Political Science degree from the University of Minnesota. I never felt I was using that degree until I blogged about politics, eventually starting a political blog called New Patriot.
2. I was once in a terrible band called "Tea on the Lawn," a name taken from an episode of The Young Ones. We were described as REM-meets-Metallica. Mostly unrelated: I believe bagpipes are the most powerful instrument.
3. My first long-term job was at a financial democracy, aka a credit union. Being robbed counts as one of the most frightening moments of my life.
4. Komedy Koven is the first blog I ever started, along with my improv comedy friends. We used to make lots of short 24-hour movies, which was good training for videoblogging.
5. Vlog Santa is based on a character called Artie. He first appeared in a slightly embarrassing student film called Don't Look Back: The Strawberry Jackson Story about 5 years ago.

I have a poli sci degree from the U too, and even after doing the political blog bit, I don't feel as if it will ever be useful.

steve: yep. i'd be willing to wager a majority of teen-20-yr-olds blog primarily through MySpace.
tom: i think there were 2 or 3 classes that actually expanded my mind, beyond that it's lost to alcohol.

I have a political science degree because I thought I'd be reporting on politics. Instead I should have gotten a degree in weather stories and bizarre diseases.
