OMFG
I simply can't believe it. This is the biggest Apple "Holy Shit!" day in recent memory. AppleTV and iPhone, I need you bad. Also, I need a big new TV. Somebody better pay me a lot of money for some video, quick! I'm ready to sellout now, is anybody listening?
BUT... As revolutionary and exciting as the iPhone is – Mac OS on a phone! – I may holdout for the Nokia N95. It has a 5 megapixel camera, takes quality video, and has GPS.

DO not get an HD TV if you are going to get the Apple TV. If you do, better off with the xbox. Aplle is only 780p.

I don't think the Xbox will have the ease of integration on interface though -- and I don't have a problem displaying internet content at 720p on a 1080i HDTV. But, thanks for the advice.

I thought my old 4:3 analog set was fine until we started watching movies and HD stuff on my friend's giant Panasonic plasma screen. As Borat would say, "Wawaweewa!"

When I saw the iPhone I had an OMFG moment too...but of the heartbroken kind.
You see, I don't yet own a video ipod, and knowing that the big convention I was hoping--no, assuming--that there would be a major upgrade in the video ipod.
But not THIS big an upgrade!
I heard the whispers...I knew they were going to release a phone, but I never expected this! Alls I wanted was a widescreen ipod! No phone. No camera. No OSX. I just bought a damn Treo a couple of months ago and I love it to pieces. There's zero justification for me to spend $500 when I'll still have to carry around my Treo because it's got all my nursing software on it. Now I have to wait for Apple to release this gizmo in a phone-free format with more memory, which they are bound to do in a year anyway. Less than a year would be too much to hope for, but now I've got this whacky 3hr bus commute to our new house twice a week and WOW could I ever use a video ipod! Yeesh, what a long ride.
That being said, it is one hell of a gorgeous device. So elegant and sleek.

it's a device conundrum fo sho. i've got a Treo too, the old 600, but it suits me fine. the screen is finally bleeding and of course the camera is terrible, so i'm do for some sort of upgrade in a year.
then i've got the video ipod. honestly a rarely use it except when i'm travelling, in which case i love it. the iPhone could very well replace my video iPod though, in spite of its much lower capacity.
Lori is an excellent candidate for the iPhone though, and i'm excited for her to get one.
