PIONEER PRESS: On vacation, but still in the loop
Poll reveals many workers don't leave digital devices behind while they unwind
Chuck Olsen, of Minneapolis, also routinely totes a laptop on pleasure trips. This is partly for backing up vacation photos and the like, he says, but he also ends up using it for work.
Olsen recently gave his partner, Lorika, a trip to New York for her birthday. But Olsen, a freelance videographer, later learned about a Big Apple conference related to his job.
"So I basically ditched Lori for an afternoon," he said. "I found a mutual friend to take her shopping and go have fun while I was at this conference. That kind of thing happens to me all the time."
Lorika is excitedly anticipating what Chuck has planned for their anniversary.

Of course, that was actually a really great day. Lori slept in then went shopping with our friend MissB, then we rendezvoused (sp???) at a lovely French restaurant in Chelsea, then we saw Laurie Anderson, then we drank with our vloggers peeps all night long.
