I am blogging hear me roar!

The People are rising up with a new voice on the internet as the mainstream (especially television) media is sinking into a quagmire of lowest common denominator pandering, shallow smear campaigns disguised as interviews, and are becoming little more than corporate lapdogs.

We the People will take this country back and the voice of America will ring out through the newest and greatest equalizer; the internet. They say the airwaves belong to us, but they have been stolen from us and sold to the corporations.

The internet is the new medium for public discourse and we will use it to make ourselves heard. We are the new Media!
Mainstream media, you have squandered your assignment to be non-partisan and impartial and remain free of corporate or government puppet strings - and we are taking over!

We are sick of you constantly blathering on as if we are hanging on your every word and won't know what to do if you don't tell us what you think about anything and everything.

We are sick of you going on as if you have a crystal ball telling you who will win a primary, a nomination, an election - as if WE don't decide.

We are sick of shallow slanted interviews that tell us nothing of substance, but pretend to be pregnant with meaning.

We are sick of you dog-piling on a story that is nothing more than smoke and mirrors, feeding on each other like cannibals.

And we are most sick of the dizzying lurching spin you put on every single "story" you report.

We just want it straight - the real story. The impartial story, the way it was meant to be. The story that doesn't belittle us or act as if we aren't intelligent enough to figure out what we ourselves think. But you do not seem capable or willing to tell us those kinds of stories anymore, you are too hell-bent on your agenda of getting the most ratings i.e. money and have forgotten your purpose.

And so we will tell it ourselves.

Corporate puppets and lapdogs, your era is at an end.

It is now the era of the blog, the era of the People.

Woo! Go Lori!

welcome Lorika!

i don't like lapdogs, but maggie was a corporate puppy. when we lived in new york, she came to work with me everyday. but she more of a small business puppy.

oh, puppets. what is it you have against puppets?

seriously, though, watching the NH primary coverage last night, a number of the reporters were far more caught up in what they had to say than bringing any facts to the table. it was is if they had to create some new "insight" every time Wolfie Blitzer (wasn't he one of Santa's reindeer?) threw back to them. We eventually turned to the People for better coverage.

Whew! I finally had a chance to watch the video Chuck made of me starting this crazy thing. It's so weird seeing yourself on camera! I sound totally different than I do in my head. Weeeiiirrrd! Also, you know, I say, you know, "you know" too much. Arrrrrrg! I hate those little things you say unconsciously like that. How do you stop yourself? I guess that's one more reason to like blogging. You get to think more carefully about everything you say, and lucky for me you can edit it. I am a horrible speller sometimes, so I appologize in advance if I screw it up.

Anyway, yes, thank you, all you lovely people for coming here and encouraging me! I love it! And thanks Rena for the great compliment, being an inspration is one of the best things one can be in my book.

K, gonna go make my second post now. Am I doing it right Daddy? Am I blogging right?
