Vacation Worries

Hey ya'll! Does anyone have any theories/information on what to do with your garden/seedlings when you are on vacation? I'm going to be gone in a coupla days, for a coupla days and I've got a ton of babies still under the lights in the basement. I hate to ask the sweet people taking care of our cats to turn the lights on and off (only one light will work on a timer). I definitely can not harden off anything to go outside before I go, especially since it's been so windy lately - I don't want to take any chances.

Whatcha got?

Well I neglect mine and they do fine. How about a good dose of water and leave the lights on and turn them off on your return?

Really.....Mine always turn out fine with a little neglect. I think it helps them prepare for later when they are planted and I either feed or water my too young boys or them. lol

Let me just say it has been a long long day and I apologize for my additional spelling error. Obviously I just can't spell. (not true but it feels like it.)

I am so glad the tomato plants are just happy with sun and water and good soil. If I had to spell for them I would be out of luck!

I've gone away for a few days at a time and just left my babies under a smaller, safer light. If that makes you uncomfortable, maybe you could put them on the porch, where the wind won't knock them over but they'll get some natural light. Possible?

Thanks for the advice Jana and Maggie!

I was thinking of leaving the lights off, but now I'm thinking of leaving them on. I hadn't thought of leaving them on the front porch - I guess they'll get some light there, and if we shut the windows, they wouldn't tip over. Hmmmm. So many options! Well, I gotta decide quick!

Can you put the lights on a timer?

Or put your plants inside, right next to the windows so they get plenty of light. That's what I do with mine. I put them on the south side windows. For a couple of days, they should be fine~
